We start walking at any point along the coast line in Gijón. Some of the places, from west to east, are Poniente beach and The Aquarium, San Lorenzo beach, Piles bridge or “El Rinconín park”. The coastal path goes eastwards and ends at Nora beach which belongs to Villaviciosa.
How to get there
If you want to exercise a few hours and forget about the car you can go to Gijón by train or bus from the apartments and start walking eastwards at The Aquarium (see information of public transport in this web).
The other easy possibility is to drive from Perlora to “El Rinconín park” where there is a good car park. There are 19 kms and it takes 23 minutos to get there.
Description
We may start at different points, depending on how much we want to walk. It is a 10 kms path from The Aquarium.which shortens to 8 Kms if we start at El Piles Bridge or 7 Kms starting at “El Rinconín park”. This park is ideal for children to cycle or just play.
This route is easy for cycling in the urban section. Once we cycle past the camp site the route is steeper. On the whole the route has an accumulated drop of 292 meters . As we are leaving Gijón we can contemplate a series of large sculptures.

What else to do
A swim in one of the beaches is always a tempting option in summer. Cycling or skating is a very nice alternative in the urban section of the route. From the “Piles bridge” to the “Rinconín park” there are plenty of terraces where you can eat or have a drink.
The Botanical garden and “Universidad laboral” are both in this part of Gijón and they offer guided visits.
