One of the most precious cultural treasures of Asturias, listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO since 1985.It is the most complete example of late medieval architecture in Western Europe. We propose to visit the churches of Santa María del Naranco and of San Miguel de Lillo, both in the surroundings of Oviedo next to the Pre-Romanesque Centre.
How to get there
It is best to go by car, it is 36 kms away and takes 35 minutes from Perlora. There are parking areas that are well signaled once we get there.
Description
It is a guided visit that can be done every day except Mondays. On Mondays the visit is free but not guided. Visit hours are from 10 am to 12.30 am Sundays, and from 10 am to 14.30 pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays. We fully recommend the guided visit; Santa María del Naranco is a very beautiful building in outstanding surroundings. The Pre-Romanesque Centre hosts exhibitions and a programme of cultural activities, together with information of all the Pre-Romanesque buildings in Asturias. The visit to theses three places will take a couple of hours, more or less.

What else to do
If we want to have lunch or dinner, on the way to Monte Naranco, following the same road that takes us to the Pre-Romanesque churches, there are several restaurants with very good views. We like the Grill-Restaurant “Buenos Aires”. They serve good quality and large portions at a very reasonable price. Oviedo historical town centre and the Cathedral are very near and they are both worth a visit.
The oldest of the Pre-Romanesque churches is San Julián de los Prados, on one of the entrances to the town of Oviedo. It can also be visited.https://www.turismoasturias.es/descubre/cultura/prerromanico/iglesia-de-san-julian-de-los-prados
