The proposal includes the visit to the protected landscape of Cape Peñas, the norhernmost tip of Asturias. Cliffs can reach hights of 100 meters. Beware of the wind with rough weather!!
How to get there
You get there by car; it is only 16 kms away and it takes 20 mns. From Candás you drive to Luanco and fron there we follow the signs for Bañugues and “Cabo Peñas” (AS-118 y GO-1).
Description
This is one of the wildest spots in Asturias, Sandy beaches alternate with dune ecosystems and steep cliffs. The lighthouse hosts an exhibition focused on local sea life If lucky you can watch whales or dolphins in the horizon.
From Cabo Peñas we can walk trails both Eastern and western direction. PR AS-25, from Luanco to Nieva (right side of Avilés tidal river), with Cabo Peñas in the middle of the trail is a 34 kms long. If we have to choose a shorter versión it is probably best to walk from Cabo Peñas to Verdicio or Xagó beach on the western side of the trail.

What else to do
Luanco is an elegant fishing village, with a cosy port where some of the local food can be tasted. It also has a very good beach where we can relax or go for a swim.
