The history of the place

The house was built in 1896, shortly after Mr. Enrique Álvarez bought the remains of ‘Saint Peter´s chapel’. Several restorations of the chapel are documented from XVII to XIX century. The house has been a farm most of the time since its construction.

The names of the apartments pay tribute to some of the activities that have taken place in the house. “La Capilla” reminds us of its original religious use; in fact remains of the chapel wall are still part of the apartment. Until The Spanish Civil War, great-great-grandma run the local dance hall giving name to the apartment ‘El Baile’. A blacksmith had his forge for years, that is why another apartment is named “La Fragua”. Between 1960 and 1980 there was a very popular restaurant called “El Bahía” initially run by Mr. Manuel Alvarez, that later founded one of the first campsites in Asturias.

The Álvarez family has lived in the house for more than 120 years; four generations still live in the upper floor, from Mr Manuel Alvarez to little Damián, still a few monts old. We all welcome you and wish you a very nice time with us.
